Black Patent

Briess Malting Black Patent Malt has a sharper flavor than other roasted grains. A dark malt for use in Porters and the occasional Stout. Delivers sharp, roasted, and somewhat bitter flavors with pronounced notes of burnt toast, charred wood, and even hints of ash. It has an intense, dry roast character without much sweetness, giving a bold taste that can be similar to express or dark chocolate, but without the sweetness associated with other dark malts.
