Dosage

  • Standard Batch (5-6 gallons): Use 2 sachets.
  • Larger Batches: Use 2.5–4 grams of yeast per gallon of wort. To simplify, round up to the nearest full sachet for best results.

Direct Pitch or Rehydrate
Our German Lager Yeast is specially designed for direct pitching—just sprinkle it onto the surface of your wort without the need for oxygenation during initial fermentation. Thanks to an advanced aerobic growth process, this yeast boasts high viability and nutrient-packed sterol levels for a strong, complete fermentation.

For those who prefer rehydration:

  1. Sanitize the yeast sachet and scissors.
  2. Mix 10 grams of sterilized tap water (85-95°F / 29-35°C) with 0.25 grams of FermStart per gram of yeast.
  3. Sprinkle the yeast into the water and let sit undisturbed for 20 minutes.
  4. Swirl gently and adjust to within 10°F (6°C) of wort temperature before pitching.

  • Optimal Temperature: 50-59°F (10-15°C)
  • Flocculation: High (clearer beer, faster settling)
  • Alcohol Tolerance: 9-10% ABV
